Moadra gameplay and mechanics

Moadra is an exploration game in the Metroidvania tradition: a large interconnected map, abilities that open new routes, and hidden paths. This page summarises the systems the developer has described. It does not list enemy stats, boss weaknesses or map locations because none are officially published.

Movement

The Steam description lists roll, dodge, leap, wall jump and sprint, and says the character can move at high speed to avoid hazards. Demo patch notes 1.1.0 also mention ledge grabs that no longer require holding the move input, crouching by holding the left stick or D-pad, and variable jump height depending on how long you hold the button.

Combat

The store text says you use reflexes, an arsenal of weapons and special abilities against threats from small creatures to gargantuan monsters. The demo notes describe a blaster that can be charged, gamepad free aiming with a crosshair, and a target lock that picks the target closest to the crosshair and works only on enemies and moving targets. Special skills named in the demo notes are Heal Lifeblood, Purify Lifeblood and Protopulse. These names come from the demo; the full game may differ.

Scanning and exploration

You activate a scanner bot and use X-ray vision to examine creatures and surroundings. This reveals hidden paths and secret areas that cannot be seen normally. The demo notes say scanning was sped up and that highlight colours show whether an object has already been scanned. The October 2026 demo update mentions a scan logbook. You can also map the places you explored.

Evolution: Protoplasm and Bioplasm

Blowing up unfriendly creatures and organisms lets you absorb Protoplasm, which the developer describes as lumps of energy-packed biomass. Consuming it inside organic chambers applies metamorphosis and upgrades abilities and weapons. The demo notes also mention a resource called Bioplasm used by some skills, and Evolve Chambers where the healing skill can be recharged.

Saving and difficulty

The demo notes mention save points. The Steam page lists the game as single-player. The sources checked do not describe difficulty modes, so none are listed here.
