Moadra story and setting
This page covers only what Gloomsoft has said publicly about the premise. It avoids story spoilers and does not guess at plot beyond the official text.
Premise
You play Lieutenant Moadra Meras, described in the developer press release as a member of the Neera elites. The mission takes place on Protea VI, a sand-swept planet that the store page calls forgotten. The Steam description says the planet holds many lost secrets after the extinction of your ancestors 20,000 years ago, and that you are on a mission to uncover your lost Neera heritage.
Themes the developer stresses
The Steam short description frames the story as redemption and a sin: you "seek redemption" and "confront the terrifying sin buried in the depths" of the planet. The press release adds that the fate of an entire species hangs in the balance. Nothing more specific about the sin has been officially described in the sources checked.
World and regions
- The desolate surface, a sand-swept landscape.
- Deadly, freezing summits you can ascend.
- A research facility infested with malicious alien species.
- Lush underground caverns (press release wording).
- Neera Archives levels, mentioned in the demo patch notes as an area of the demo.
Characters
Moadra Meras is the only named character in the official material checked. The Steam announcement for the demo calls the player "Lieutenant Moadra Meras", and later developer posts address players as "Lieutenants". No other named characters have been officially listed in the sources checked.
Tone
The Steam page carries a content note for frequent violence and gore, and press coverage describes the game as Alien-inspired science fiction. The first-party description emphasises grim mysteries, bizarre creatures and hazards.
