This page covers only what Dream Dock has said publicly. It avoids spoilers and does not guess at plot beyond the developer's own text. The developer says that Early Access has story content to complete and more to come.
The Submerged Lands
Steam describes a world flooded by a catastrophic human mistake. Coastal regions have sunk, much of the remaining land is underwater, and you travel between scattered settlements by trawler. The first dev diary calls the world a post-apocalyptic reflection of Earth, a hybrid of familiar landscapes and new ones. It is marked by radiation, the Sea Blight, biotechnological failures and slow erosion. Life continues, much of it mutated, and rare calm sanctuaries remain.
The Sea Blight
Dev diary 3 says the Sea Blight existed before the collapse. It was found in a far-north expedition and first treated as a breakthrough used in medicine, science and engineering. After the collapse it changed into something feared that spreads through water, surfaces and air, often as a faint green mist. Humans are especially vulnerable: prolonged exposure fractures sanity and can leave a person feral. Entire regions are avoided as a result.
After the collapse
Dev diary 4 describes islands, fragmented landmasses, swamps, flooded ruins and isolated settlements, with old buildings and factories that still shelter some people. Communication between settlements has been lost, and no single explanation of the collapse is accepted everywhere. Steam says trust is fragile and resources are scarce.
Tone
The first dev diary says players should feel that they are a stranger here and that no one is waiting for them, and that silence is only the calm before the storm. Dev diary 5 calls the game horror-adjacent rather than a traditional horror game, relying on tension from fog, silence and distance from safety rather than jump scares.
Characters and plot
The Steam page mentions mysterious traders and settlements, and developer posts refer to a quest chain, dialogue and voice acting in the demo. We found no official list of named characters or a plot summary, so none is given here.
